*** ON network BUT no internet ***

Has anyone ever dealt with an issue where a certain computer on the network can be seen, communicates properly on the network with NO problem BUT can't connect to the internet?

I can ping every single pc FROM the problem unit and can ping TO IT. BUT It can't ping to i.e. yahoo.com or any other site outside the network either.

The problem pc is running Win XP Home. There were no changes made to the system and things were working fine earlier today actually. All of a sudden we just went to check out a different site and lost the internet.

What does ipconfig /all show?
Check your host file. Sometimes malware can send all your traffic to 127.0.0.1 by writing to your host file.

Try pinging the ip address of www.google.com. If you can ping the IP and not the name it is a DNS issue. Make sure the ipconfig is pointing to the correct DNS servers. You can see who your computer is asking by using the nslookup command.
