!!Pc Trouble!!

So, I own a Toshiba laptop and it has been acting up for a while: freezing up, deskto icons not working when selected etc.. The other day, i tried to turn it on and it wont open windows. sometimes it does but then immediately freezes. Anyone have any clue what the problem is?

Have you tried System restore?It would put it to a point where you can choose a day before it started acting up without losing personal files.
