why can't i clear my history?

when i try to clear my history on internet explorer options it does not highlight for me to do this...why?.....

I'd guess there's a setting in the registry that has been set so as to disable this option, but I don't know where.
Perhaps you should install "TweakUI" and go to the "Paranoia" tab, tick "Clear IE history at logon", then click "Clear selected items now".
That might not only clear the history, but may also clear the disablement.

i have downloaded tweakui, forgive me for acting stupid but what is the paranoia tab, i can't see it

Install "TweakUI".
To run it, open Control Panel and click on "TweakUI".

it's not in my control panel, it comes up from start-all programs then select tweakui. my diplay is different from what you show, near enough all the same options,but i don't have a parnoia tab.

I use Win98SE, so mine isn't the WinXP version.

Do any of your tabs have an option to clear the IE history?
