Hi all, I'm back with another one. I just installed a sound card in a rebuild and when I booted back up the card and game controller and all showed up as found new hardware. Then I'm told a problem developed and it may not work. When I went into device manager it says the device reported problems when it got to the standard game port, and gave me a code 43? Anybody? :(

Have you tried seaching the makers web site for the code.
Uninstall the device from within Device Manager, reboot and then install the latest driver for it.
Just found this - Link (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310123#XSLTH4652121122120121120120).

I e-mailed tech support for the device manufacturer and am anxiously :-) awaiting their reply. I have already downloaded the latest drivers from the manufacturers website so now I'll try the uninstall and reboot then update the driver and let you know

just to let ya'll know, I found out that the company that made the sound card is now defunct (?) but I managed to get drivers from another company that was handling them. I took forever to get them to install and I'm still not for sure what I finally did right but the darn thing is working now so far be it from me to ask too many questions. I did learn that google and search within results are marvelous things. Think I might try them more often. :-) Thanks again. I think sometimes I just need to see things is writing for them to make sense. It kinda slows my mind down some.

I hate products that are no longer supported! I've gotten to the point where I always check for drivers before I even install the hardware. If I can't find them, I consider another piece of hardware. Spending hours on drivers can sometimes lead nowhere in my experience.

I guess I'm just stubborn. I just hate to be told no. :-)
