I plugged the powercord into my computer last nite and I heard what sounded like arcing from the cord to the power supply outlet. I pulled it back and tried again and the same thing happened. I finally was able to plug it in with out the arcing sound. I think I smelled a faint hint of ozone but I am not sure. My questions are this:
1) Does this sound like a bad power cord
2) Would this do any damage to my MB or other components?

This is a brand new chasis/power supply (420w)

Thx

Was it switched on 115 or 220 ? I have heard of ppl pluging it in being on the wrong voltage with the same results.

Let us know.

Where there is a bad connection there can be arcing.
Look for signs of burning/blackening.
Try to eliminate the bad connection.

I've no idea whether or not it has done any damage.
Eliminate the arcing and see whether the PC works ok or not.
