Hi.
I have a dual boot system with suse 9 and windows xp. I'd like to try out Fedora Core 5 out, but I don't want to format my WHOLE hard drive. I'd like to get by just by formatting the linux part and installing Fedora Core on that part, leaving windows xp alone. Can this be done? Will I be able to remove the bootloader partition with no problem to install the new one or will that screw me over?

Thanks in advance.

I think it can be done. I had Mandrake 9.3 and Xp Pro. When I installed Suse 10.0 it automatically selected the Mandrake partition to be formatted and replaced. A bit cheeky but to the point! :-D

Linux - Xandros was particularly easy to install as a dual boot [with Win98SE].
It offered various options for preparing a place for it; I chose to use part of an existing partition by reducing the partition, but I think deleting & replacing the contents of an existing partition was on offer.
They say Xandros is the closest Linux replacement for Windows, and it looks so to me.

The KILLDISK (http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm) program on a bootable floppy will zero-fill any of your partitions that you choose from its rather nice display of your HDD's partitions.
