You would need to have a look at the manual, it will tell you what components the board will support.

Personally, I would stay away from PC Chips, they buy boards from other manufacturers and stick their name on them, and sometimes it's not easy to find out who actually made the board. Check around, you might find a good Abit or Asus, Gigabyte, Tyan, Soyo etc for about the same price, and check the AMD site too, they should have a compatibility list.

Whatever you get, make sure you get a power supply that is AMD approved. CSO (http://www.computersurplusoutlet.com) and Pricewatch (http://www.pricewatch.com) both usually have some pretty good prices posted.

By your choice of cpu (Athalon 1 gig), I assume you want to go very fast! To accomplish that, my advice is to focus MORE on the Motherboard/Cpu combination and less on ATA100. AMD has recently released the new Double Data Rate RAM version of the Athalon @ 1 Gig. It takes advantage of the new fast Ram which is out now (DDR), additionally, AMD has just released a new chipset- AMD 760-761 versions which allow 200 & 266 mhz Front Side Bus setups. There are only a few motherboards out right now that have this chipset on them.....check at the AMD site below to learn more! http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/athlon/index.html
The ATA100 type hard drive is only a slight bit faster than ATA66, but ALL motherboads with the new bios have it

I'm putting a new Fat32 partition in my Head Drive...hope it speeds me up.......
