I have a problem: I'm trying to set up a network with my flatmates. I'm able to connect to their internet connection but, for some odd reason, am unable to share files. Does anyone know why this may be, and how I am able to fix it? Thank you.

Please post the OS of each PC being connected including if Home/Pro for XP.
Oh yes, almost forgot, Welcome to the PC Guide forums!
Also how are you setting up the network? A router or Windows ICS?
Have you run the Windwos networking wizard on all of the PCs involved and made sure they are all in the same subnet (very important) and workgroup (not essential but makes things easier).

use ping to verify connections to one or more remote hosts. The ping command uses the ICMP echo request and echo reply packets to determine whether a particular IP system on a network is functional. Ping is useful for diagnosing IP network or router failures. : ;)
