Heres the problem;
I am trying to fix a problem on a Dialup Connection to the Internet.
The Modem a SmartLink 56K connects to the ISP no problem and IE accesses the home page, however after about 5 minutes you can no longer access any more Web Sites. The most I have managed is about three links then everything just stops. When it has stopped clicking on a link causes the Page Cannot be Displayed message to appear.
Please help as I am now completely baffled.
Normally when this happens the Network connected icon is still visible and if you pick up the phone Modem Noise is still audiable as if the connection is still up. Data appears to be sent but no more Data is being received from the ISP. Wneh in this state I have tried to Ping the ISP but get a timed out response, Pining from my DSL PC I get an instant reply, so it must be something at my end, problem is what?
I have tried changing modems forced a V34 connection, updated the Driver, reset TCP/IP and connected to an alternative Pay as you go ISP same problem.
I have tried using a different phone line in a different house, same problem.
WinXP Home SP2
Next step will be to get hold of an external modem!!!
