My problem is, I suspect, unusual; I hope it is not difficult. I'd appreciate solid advice about which notebook component specs to scrutinize when purchasing a notebook whose use will be as follows: An 'external monitor' -- an SVGA projector of the type used for presentations at meetings and such -- will serve as the primary display component. The notebook itself will be used for garden-variety word-processing applications and Web browsing. Optimal resolution setting is 800 X 600. Tell me, please: In order to get the best display possible with respect to those factors that affect the user's comfort (such factors as resolution, refresh rate, etc.), which notebook components are significant? (And which are irrelevant?) Is the size of the notebook's video memory important? Is the notebook's screen of any importance whatsoever, given that all information will presumably travel directly to the projector?
(A related query: My question is prompted by my search for a notebook for an individual who suffers from acute sensitivity to fluorescent light. The location of the light is not important; all sources of fluorescent trigger extreme discomfort. I'd appreciate any nudges in a useful direction. I'm familiar with the work of John Ott, which I have not found helpful; I also know the research of Arnold Wilkins, which is sounder theoretically but of limited practical application to the situation at hand.)
