These 3 problems exist even after I formatted the HD three times booting from Windows XP CD.
1. Windows hangs at "Windows is shutting down" screen. But it eventually shuts down after a couple of minutes.
Non-worked:
*Tried disabling all non-microsoft services at msconfig
*Manually shut down processes at task manager
2. Internet stops working (Currently use On-Board LAN)
Non-worked:
*I have a wireless router. The labtop that connects wirelessly works fine
*ipconfig /release and /renew don't work
3. Mouse cursor icon freezes but mouse and keyboard still work
Non-worked:
*Switched mouses
*Tried different USB ports
Components:
1. nVIDIA GeForce 3 Ti 200
2. Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-500M
3. ATAPI CD-RW 52x24
4. Microsoft USB IntelliMouse Explorer
5. Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
6. VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter
7. PIII 3 Ghz
8. 768 MB of DDR RAM
All this problems occur even after formatting my computer!
Thanks!

hmmm the internet problem could be that you need to install the drivers for your onboard LAN

Hello hotlilkefiyea,
Posting the same question in two sections of this forum will not get you help any quicker.
If your question is in the wrong section the mods will move it.

The PIII didn't go to 3 GHz. Do you have a P4?
What OS are you using? What drivers? Did you do the Windows updates? Did you use fresh installs every time or just repairs? Did you ever fully wipe the hard drive? Have you tested the RAM yet?

I merged the 3 threads. Please do not multiple post...it only confuses!

Wow that's alot of formats to still not have a working computer. How about going to the site of the manufacturer who made your HDD and getting whatever diagnostic tools they have to completely zero your drive and then do a clean install of XP like saph was saying. Have you run all AV scans and adware scans. Sometimes those pesky adware and bots will cause your computer to freeze at the shutdown screen, they don't want you to disconnect or shutdown cause then they can't phone home. More information is really needed.

After reformatting and reinstalling the Operating System, you need to check and see which drivers you still need to install. Sometimes it's relatively little and sometimes (like with Sony Vaio notebooks, for example) you may need to install up to 10 drivers after installing the Operating System. If you have a driver CD that came with your PC, that's a great place to start. After booting your machine, do this:
Go to Start -> Run -> type "devmgmt.msc"
When Device Manager opens, look for any warning triangles (yellow) and let us know if any show up.

Run Windows XP Upgrade Advisor (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/upgrading/advisor.mspx) to see if all software and hardware is XP compatible or not.
