You can buy faster DDR RAM and have it work just fine. The chipset will slow it down to PC2100 speed, but it will work just fine.

PC2100, though? I thought that mobo could go faster. Do you have the latest BIOS version for that mobo?

hmm i have a newly updated bios when i got my Sempron 3000+ i needed to upgrade it so i could get the full 2ghz out of it i never checked to see if the new bios allowed for faster memory ill have to check.

im planing on buying like pc3200 or somthing just so its not useless if i ever put it in a newer machine

PC3200 has been my RAM of choice for DDR for quite some time. It's the fastest JEDEC standard for DDR, it is often the cheapest or just as cheap as the slower stuff, and it usually works fine at slower speeds. Right now there's the added bonus of RAM being dirt-cheap, too, so it keeps getting better! :D
