Well heres first main problem. I bought me a new Abit motherboard. I did everything to install. So when I tried to turn on the computer, it doesnt turn on. So I messed around the 24 pin connector. It trys to power on. But it shuts off after 2 seconds
Is this a DoA Motherboard? (Dead on Arrival)
So I thought this is a DOA Motherboard. DId RMA at newegg.com
Problem 2:
Now I reinstalled my DFI Motherboard. It turns on. All fans work, After 5 seconds it shuts off. I feel that this might be my CPU overheating. I have everything latched in. Heatsinker and fan. But After i removed it from my Abit motherboard it did lose a lot of thermal grease. So I was wondering if this is the main problem that shuts off the CPU? I do smell something burning so I felt this might be the problem. Checked CPU once more to see if it got burnt. It didnt since it was feeling cold still
what are my answers to my 2 problems? Was the motherboard not dead? And my DFI just shuts off after 5 seconds

I talked to my friend and he thinks its the 5volt rail that is out on my PSU.
Its weird though since its an Antec 500 watt. I did have severe dust and that might of blown the rail.
He cant tell though since my AMD needs some thermal paste to keep it cooled for my DFI motherboard.
my DFI boots up longer and fails after 5 seconds.
This might be the thermal paste that I lost when I touched it a couple of times.
I did swap motherboards and I had to remove the heat sinker first, then the amd.

You can buy a PSU tester for cheap. If you live in the US, CompUSA sells them for $10-15. Most other PC-type shops should be in the same range. It's a good little tool to have and won't require you to keep swapping out parts to test for a bad PSU. And just because it's an Antec PSU doesn't mean it won't fail. ;) It just means it's more likely to last longer and more reliably.

Id figured it might be the PSU. I will buy that tester next friday. I am on my good laptop for now. So thanks
So far 10 people told me it has to be the PSU

Its not the PSU Problem. I found out that when i was swapping motherboards, the CPU lost a lot of thermal paste. So it shuts off after 5 secs
waiting on new CPU (Just upgraded) and i hate buying cheap PSU testers. Told me wrong and the PSU was still perfect.
So I will wait and see when i get the CPU and the Arctic Silver.

My friend and I bought a $10 Antec PSU tester (does ATX 3.0, too!) at CompUSA. Not cheap. Works perfectly. Stick to known good brand names.

Ah. the compusa one over here dont carry the antec ones. They carry their own tester. So Id figured that it wont do me much good. they were almost sold out too.
I will wait and see how this goes on the new CPU

But After i removed it from my Abit motherboard it did lose a lot of thermal grease.
Um just a thought, but exactly how much thermal paste are you using? It's only supposed to be a very small thin amount I believe.

I lost some stock thermal grease. Im not using arctic silver. I didnt buy it when i bought this CPU.
All I used was the grease that came with the heat sinker when i built my AMD computer.
I now ordered a upgraded CPU AMD 3700+ from a 3000+ and bought some arctic silver.
What I was told that my computer shuts down probably because I dont have enough thermal grease on the heatsinker. I did accidently touch the grease when i was swapping motherboards.
I was told when you use arctic silver. You dont need much. Like as small as a grain of rice.
Also I wont be installing the new CPU yet. I will be using the arctic silver on the old heat sinker first. If that solves the problem then i will save this CPU when i recieve my RMA motherboard that I had to send back to newegg.com
I bought a new abit motherboard that has pipe heating technology that goes from northbridge through a pipe to the heatsinker.
Overall i was told that i didnt have enough thermal grease on my CPU due to the fact that i was swapping motherboards and I did get some grease on my hands.
But we will see later today when i get my package from newegg.com
I know for sure that the stock grease that is on the heatsinker loses grease easily. So its why i bought some arctic silver and hopefully this solves the 5 second shutdown.

Alright. I got it installed.
The final Verdict? Nothing still.
CPU works fine. PSU no problem.
I bought a new decent socket 939 motherboard.
It stopped the shutdown problems. But now it has 1 long beep. But I think its my CPU because my CPU is made for 1000 hyper transport and my motherboard supports 2000 hyper transport.
is this the problem?

The final Verdict was the motherboard. Everything is running great.
Here are the new specs
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
Antec Trueblue 500watt
Abit KN8 Cool & Quiet Socket 939 Motherboard
Corsair XMS PC3500 1 gig
1x 74 gig raptors
1x 180 gig hard drive
DVD-RW + DVD-Rom
Only thing that got upgraded was AMD 3000+ to 3700+ with L2 cache to 1 meg from 512k and the ram upgraded to XMS Corsair
ALso the motherboard was replaced with a decent one that dont need Northbridge fans (Yuck)
Overall Problems fixed. My DFI LanParty burnt on me.
