Connected To Access Point - No Internet Connection

quick question...
my wireless internet was working well here at school and now all of a sudden will not connect to the school's internet.

I have the Linksys G USB wireless adapter...
The signal is strong...
WEP is selected...
SSID is correct...
Encryption key is correct...
IP address begins with 169.254.xx.xxx

The signal strength reads excellent - says it's connecting to the access point... yet there is a block to the internet...

an address of 169.xxx.xxx.xxx says no address is being assigned by the DHCP service, meaning the WAP is not connecting.
