is there a quick and painless way to check what your wattage your PSU is putting out?

i dont know what i have and i am putting in a 200gig hdd in a stock dell dimension 4600 but it has a gig of RAM, a small extra 10 gig hdd, and a dvd burner. I also wanted to know if whatever wattage i did have would be enough to support all this "weight"

i think it should be able to hold it but a friend asked me about the power and i got a little paranoid.

If there is a spot for another HD, and you have not put in any power new power hungry components, then you should be okay.

Hi Jaws15 and welcome to the PcGuide forums.

The quickest way would be to open the case and look at the sticker on the side of the PSU. You could also go to the Dell site and look up the specs.

Adding a single HDD shouldn't overtax the PSU unless you have added several components already, like a power hungry video card or something. Even with an extra stick of ram you should be OK. But it is a good idea to check it out and to know what the PSU's ratings are.
