I have gone through several keybards, and I always have this problem. I am connected via usb, I have tried both ports to no avail. the other place to plug in your keyboard use to work but nowit wont work at all. I would appreciate any help I can get, hanks.

Which version of Windows are you running?
Also, USB keyboards don't work in DOS [early in the Startup sequence for example].

Make youself a bootable KNOPPIX (http://www.knoppix.org/) CD.
Load the Knoppix - Linux OS from that CD [it sets itself up for use with your hardware] and see if your keyboard works ok in that OS environment.

These are not battery powered wireless keyboards are they?

I've just booted from the Knoppix CD and am now using Firefox within Knoppix 3.8...

That's my understanding from what I've read here in the threads on this forum.
People have been forced to use PS2 keyboards until they get into Windows...
Unless the most modern BIOS's are not only capable of booting from USB devices [HDD's], but also working with USB mouse and keyboard.

As Knoppix was booting it displayed each step in setting up the hardware for use.
The first item after initializing the BIOS and the audit was scanning for USB hardware.
I've just switched on power to my USB connected IDE HDD in an external housing and the contents of that are being displayed.
