Have any of you ever seen a problem like this?

I have set up a wireless Internet connection for a buddy, who is using a Speedport W501V wireless router from the Deutsche Telekom (T-Com). He can come into the Internet fine when I use the T-Online software called "Hot Spot Locator." But I don't want to use this software.

Personally, I like to use the Windows XP Built-in WLAN locator instead because I don't like to be dependent on third-party software to perform such a simple task.

The problem:

I can connect to the Internet with Windows, too, as long as WEP is disabled on the router. when I let windows find all of the wireless connections and attempt to connect when WEP is enabled on the router, the popup window that normally asks for the WEP passphrase comes and disappears so fast that I cannot enter the passphrase. It then attempts to connect to the wireless network - unsuccessfully of course.

I am logged in as an administrator and his OS is XP Home.

Is there a simple check box that I need to check or something trivial like that going on here?

Thanks for any ideas...

Bump (sorry, but my buddy's whining is driving me crazy!).

No takers?...
