So i got sick of using my wireless connection without a password so i reconfigured my linksys router with password protectection and changed the SSID name from the default "linksys" too caseys network. Now when it shows my networks i can connect to in my area, it has my new SSID "Caseys Network, And i can still connect to my old one "linksys". I wanted to create a password so that no one else can use my connection. Does anyone know how i can get rid of the old linksys SSID. Ive tried everything i could think of so any of your help is appreciated.
Thank You

The most likely cause is someone in your neighborhood has an unprotected linksys router.

I wish that was the case. When the router is uplugged neither one of the SSID names is there. Im just lost. I guess no one knows with this one.

cdkirgis,

Simply changing the SSID of your router will not keep others from accessing it, it merely helps identify your router when it comes time to connect.

You need to follow the steps for securing the router connections with WPA-PSK if it has that option, then add that key to each of your PCs connecting to it. At that point only your PCs should be connecting to the router.

What model of Linksys are you using?
