need a program name

on my old cpu I had two programs that I don't know thare names so I can get them again.one would cach the ip of anyone that tried to get in my computer even my roed runner. the other would track the ip and tell me rite whare they was at, anyplace in the wourld. if I can get the names I'm shore I could get them again.

I think you're talking about myNetWatchman (http://www.mynetwatchman.com/) and DShield (http://www.dshield.org/).

The first analyzes log files generated by your router. Intrusion attempts can then be submitted to DShield, which collects information about these suspected attackers. They also have attack maps to indicate where these intrustion attempts appear to originate.

I will try to get them and see if they are the ones or if they work the same anyway.Inever took the time to find out the name of them becouse in my ignorance I never thought I would fry my old computer as bad as I did.being that I had an odball prosesore I could not find anyone around here that could open my old hard drive for me now I have lost it some place.thank you.

that don't sound quit what I was after but I"ll keep looking at it .what I read about the two you told me about sound like they are for servers and I need them for my home computer just to track down someone that is trying to hack into my computer.

You will be able to find the IP address you find suspicious, by examining the logs of your software or hardware firewall. Then you can get a ton of information from here: http://www.dnsstuff.com/
