I am on a 1.5mb dl/512kb upload wireless Internet connection which is ran through a network with a max of 13 computers. No router installed, just a server. Well we had our ISP come in and say that the radio is running fine. This is because they base it off of packet loss. Well whenever I ping our gateway or anything else for that matter there is maybe a 0-3% loss. (Almost always 0%) If I go to the Internet I end up getting page cannot be displayed. If I keep trying it will eventually get there. I have no idea what is going on. I am aware that a ping and http are different, but I just don't understand why it isn't working correctly. Could there be some interference?

Pinging and messanger work fine. Internet still having troubles. Did a port scan on our static ip from home and found that port 80 is filtered. Anyone have an idea?

Suspects....

Poor signal strength. Firewall. Blocking software of some sort. General congestion of the network. DNS problems...(can you ping by IP address only or by name too?)

So post back with a few more details about the setup...

both. From what I have figured from today....(here it goes) Called the ISP, they tell us that they had a problem with the tower, then was told it was a problem that involved ICMP, then was told that thier firewall had a wrong setting and was blocking port 80. Ping connection looked fine and was told to test the routing from server out. (no router..tracert) That came back fine and mysteriously the internet has started working. With the track record it should be down tommorow. I think the problem might just be with the ISP.

Ummm....port 80. Port 80 is THE http port...it is the port that all connections are made on...the standard port.

If they were blocking that port, no wonder there was no internet.

Yeah....this has happened before...they just admited it this time....last time we said something about it they said they don't mess with it. Well guess what happened five minutes later....it worked. I did a port scan on our IP from my house last night and seen that they are filtering port 80. Woe is me though....they do nothing to solve the problem.
