Hi all fellows!!!

I'm new here and facing a huge problem with my HDD. Few dayz ago, a virus attacked my computer and made all of my 4 partitions un-accessable. I lost all of my data. Then I deleled all of my partitions by Fdisk command. Now when ever I'm fdisking my HDD, I makes my partitions successfully and exit of Fdisk. But when I again use fdisk command and chose to show Partitions information, it show that there are no partitions defined.....

I've tried Seagate Seamap, Partition Magic and Disk Manager but I'm unable to make partitions on my HDD.....

Please tell me wat to do??? The information about my HDD is as under:

Manufacturer: Seagate
Capacity : 40 GB Ata/Pata
Model ST340810A

Please Help me. I shall be highly gr8 full to u...

Thanx n regards

Have you run SeaTools on it?

It sounds more like the drive is the problem, rather than the virus. There are very few viruses out there that will do that to a drive, but a bad sector at the start of the drive (boot sector) will cause very similar problems. You can try finding a DOS based 'wiping utility, but I think that the Seagate utilities off that function, too.

Try a zero-fill utility.

SeaTools can run a disk check and also has a zero fill utility to write 0s to the whole of the drive. It's not a true "low level format" though in common parlance a "low level format" is often used as a synonym for "zeroing".
