I'm looking for recommendations for partitioning software for my Windows XP machine.
I used to use Partition Magic but Symantec now owns it and I'm now avoiding Symantec products when practical.
TIA

The WinXP CD comes with disk utilities, including partitioning...it's pretty basic.
If you're looking for the ability to merge and move partitions etc., you might want to have a look at BootItNG.

I highly recommend BootIt NG. It's not as pretty as some of the other programs but it is very powerful and reliable. And the price is good. It also come with a very good boot manager.
It can edit files without being in windows. And fully supports NTFS (most don't) and Linux file systems. It has several useful free plugins and is compatible with all of their other products. Among the many other things it can do.
I would recommend getting the BootIt NG/Image For Windows/Image For DOS package for about $50.
All of them have a fully functional free trial.
Another one that is recommended around here is Acronis True Image.

Not only is BiNG extremely functional and good but you can FULLY try it out immediately, it is a small unbloated download and considering it is a combined partitioning, imaging and boot management utility it is dirt cheap in comparison to ALL other products on the market. If you setup and install it onto the mbr/embr then barring hdd failure it is always directly available at all times before booting up the OS, with which it does not have to integrate.
It doesn't have a flashy interface, which may put some people off, such as Acronis and other (IMHO) overpriced applications. If you find it hard to use so be it but it comes with documentation that has always answered my own questions.
Just about the only thing I dont like is that, by default, it will set up more than the four standard partition tables; just dont agree to that part if you set it up on the mbr/embr since you cant reverse those changes with other generic applications. If it has the standard four then you can always remove BiNG from the HDD with fdisk /mbr or fixmbr as appropriate.
