View Full Version : Running too warm for comfort
Alright, i got a new computer a few weeks ago, its running great, but i have noticed that when it runs its very warm if not hot. I've got 3 cooling fans on it, but only 2 of them are running currently. The third one kicks on occasionally, but only when the computer is really hot. My questions are:
1.) Is there any way to manage the fans on the computer?
2.) if not, is there any software i can get that will allow me to turn the third fan on?
I know the third fan is correctly wired, it works (the LED's are always on when i turn the comp on). If i cant get it to turn i don't know what to do.

Hi Boxo and welcome to the PcGuide forum.
Go into the BIOS setup by hitting DEL, F1, F2 or whatever your computer says to hit right after the computer starts to boot, but before windows starts to boot.
Look for a "hardware health monitor" or similar section on the setup menu. Then look for a fan control section and set the fans to a desired temp to slow down or shut off, or disable fan control to have them run full on all the time.
Once set how you want it, hit the ecs key to back out to the main screen and make sure you "save and exit".
Hope that helps. :)
Thanks a ton!
EDIT: ok, i set it for them to turn on at a lower temperature, however, the third fan still wont turn on. Any ideas?

Will the 3rd one not turn on at all now? And what are your temps & specs?
It wont turn on at all now. I turned the temperatures off so they just start up when the computer does.
EDIT: I don't know what i did, but aftr messing with the temperatures a bit i got it to kick on. It now turns on right at start up. Thanks for your help guys, these forums are great! :)
You might want to keep an eye on that. If it went from sometimes running, to never running, to running it might be a defective fan.
yeah, ill keep checking it to make sure, i opened up the computer case and noticed the connection was a little loose, maybe that was it.
