Hi my PCGuide friends.
I'm beginning to get settled in here. My internet and TV wree just installed/setup. Japan is interesting in that the broadband speeds are "potentially" faster--100MB/sec fiber ADSL--and cheaper than at home. I went with a discount, cheaper package 8MB/sec and it only costs about $25USD. TV kind of stinks because the "english" options are limited unless you get satellite and my condo association does not allow dishes. I don't drive here--driving on the left side of the road freaks me out--and public transport is excellent anyway. I'll eventually try to post some pictures when my systems are totally set up. Right now all I have is one PC and no desk or anything.
More later.

Glad you are settled in. Don't all Japanese just sit on the floor anyway? Do you really need a desk?

LOL.
When you are as old as I am sitting is easy, getting back up is the hard part. :D

And if you think that's hard, try configuring PPPOE settings in a router that is all in Kanji (Japanese). That's a bear!

That's a bear!Hehe...on the job site, if someone inadvertanly left their cell phone lying around, some impish person would grab it and change the language to Japanese or Chinese...which of course you'd need to be able to read to get it back to English! :D
I've found that rolling on the floor until a find a wall to assist propping myself up onto works well from a sitting or prone position...;)

Keep the info coming pop pop.
This should be one of the most interesting of threads. :)
The population density must be very high and I bet that affects everything.
Do the locals give foreigners strange looks or ignore you?

Youth. . .must have missed those days. . .I'm still "young" but my hockey goalie days already made my knees age by about 20 years I'd say.. . .anyone watching the playoffs?

Kon'nichi wa pop pop san! I remember growing up in Japan and watching all the old samurai movies, and of course Japanese advertising, showing you the same commercial 3 times in a row. I hope that you are having a great time and enjoying all the food! I imagine it has changed considerably since I was there as a small child.
