Welcome, michael! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Many notebooks require that you to get the replacement drive from the
manufacturer because of proprietary things like a non-standard size, etc.
You could try a vendor like CDW, Computer Discount Warehouse. Click here (http://www.cdw.com/).
They might have drives for major brands like Toshiba. Good Luck! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'm sure I can argee with this, because of further research of guys installing IBM hard drives on Toshiba laptops and a friend, a Certified PC-tech, experienced at pulling apart his own laptop has swapped different CD-Roms. He says all harware is the same (notebook). Toshiba XM-7002b has only a 2 star rating as well as a history of breakdowns according to some on the net. So I do not want it but another. (also used in IBM, dell and Fujitsu) I have seen a panasonic same dimesions. However, I have not opening it yet to compare. Just feeling if somone had a good CD-Rom drive recommendation or not. I do appreciate your cautious advice and it is heeded.
Thanks Michael
