Is anyone familiar with the Foxit PDF Reader (http://foxitsoftware.com) from Foxit Software? I would like to find an alternative to the resource hog that is the Acrobat Reader, but not in exchange for anything questionable.
Don't really like the looks of their site, but that doesn't mean everything. Any feedback? Thanks

I personally have not used it but the mag (PC Answers) I get gives it a good write up. They also say it is ideal for putting onto an emergencey CD because of its small foorprint and low resource usage.
Definitely not as bulky as Acrobat Reader. Not sure about bells and whistles, it pretty much covers basic funcitons...reading a PDF.
I have played with their PDFeditor...that is a nice piece of software (just the eval version).

Thanks for the replies. I am basically just interested in reading files anyway, so no bells needed. Sounds pretty good so far.

I always install it on slower systems.

It's a nice small tool. I am going to place it on the desktop of all of our newly installed computers at work - we normally install Adobe Reader. Installing Adobe plus all of the version upgrades has gotten pretty tedious as of late. This tool does the same thing and loads in about a second.
But even so, I'm sure I will receive at least one phone call from a user asking me what happened to his Adobe reader...:)

I will receive at least one phone call from a user asking me what happened to his Adobe readerYou could maybe minimize the likelihood of that happening by changing the icon to that of Adobe in the File Types Options.
You should be able to "rip" the icon from an Adobe exe using a program such as http://www.icon-maker.com/icon-extractor.htm should you want to try it out.

Hey Paul K, cool idea! I may just do that and see if anyone notices the difference...:)

Small footprint and FAST. The only bell and whistle I miss, so far, is the "graphics select".
Also, I have not elected to make it the default for .pdf files because I do not see an easy way to get back to Adobe if needed. Any suggestions?
