Difference between XP Home and WIndows Media Center?

What the major differences? Is media center really better for creating a home entertainment system? Can it perform all other windows functions as well?

Not really sure, 'cause I haven't actually seen a 'Media Center' edition...it sort of smells like a marketing ploy to cover the fact that MS is having trouble actually coming up with the 'real' next version of Windows...
