I have a Hauppague WinTV-PVR-350 PCI TV tuner card. The recorded TV images I get from it are fuzzy and the motion is a little jerky. I can play DVD's on my system and get near TV quality in both image and motion. Hauppague has advised me to update my codecs, which I did and saw some improvement. But I still don't get TV quality images from that card. Anyone have explanations and/or suggestions?
For what it's worth, I'll add that I have a P4, 3.2 Gz system wtih 3 GB of memory.
What kind of cable do you connect the computer to the whatever you have for TV signal?
How long is it?
You may be getting some signal loss that way if it is a long run.
Your computer seems to be powerful enough that it should handle it.

Hmm, never thought of that. I'm connected to coax that is about 15 feet from the wall connection. I'm wondering if I ought to get a dedicated cable box, and connect directly to that.
One way to find out is try moving the machine closer to the outlet snd try a 3' cord...

Well, it was a good theory, but.....
I moved the system to where I could connect to a 3 ft. cable. The result: no difference. Fuzzy TV reception in spite of excellent display of DVD. Still searching for explanation.
I take it that the problem exists for both 'live' and recording?
Have you pulled the TV card and cleaned all the contacts?
Use alcohol and a soft cloth or a contact cleaner (can find at Radio Shack).
Have you tried the card in a different PCI slot?

Okay..here are some thoughts
Did the software come with the card?
is there any peculiarity when you change channels?(system freezes?)
Did you use auto-scan initially? try manual scanning if it allows (i think it does not?).
Just to be sure...any other TV in the house attached to same aerial getting good pictures?(or u use cable?)
Is it fuzzy pic when text is shown. Like say a commercial?
installed the latest drivers?
give my head a rest now
cheers

Your initial post referred to "recorded" stuff...are we still talking about recorded video, or are we talking about actual TV reception...or both?
I had the cable company come out and test my line. We always had Cable TV, but in January added the Internet. My signal strength on line was marginal so they sent techs out to check. Turns out the problem was out on the pole...what I thought was "pretty good" TV reception now is DVD quality.
