They don't have any real great launch games....

I heard theres no way PS3 will be able to go lower or equal to the Xbox 360 is price (i actually heard they're looking at huge losses if they try to price competivly). I guess we'll have to wait

Anyone planning to get the PS3 when it launches? I know I won't cause $499 for a 20gb and $599 for a 60gb is beyond my reach.http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Did I read it wrong, or didn't it say the 60GB was standard on the $399? I was planning on saving up enough to try to get one a little after it came out, but if that's the case then I'm not sure, Deagle.

It's getting late for me, so my reading abilities are going down. =P

PS3 is just too durn expensive for us Canadians! (we just got VCRs this year!) lol jk

Seriously though, its wayyy to expensive. So i'm not planning to get one unless it happens to have a musthave game (Halo level).

Ok, this info is from their pre-E3 media-conference.

-Two PS3 models, differentiated by $100 in price. ($499 and $599)

- 20GB Hard Drive space for the low end and 60GB space for the high end.

- $499 PS3 lacks built-in support for Wi-Fi broadband and SD and Compact Flash memory cards.

- $499 PS3 lacks HDMI.

- Phil Harrison told GI.biz, "You can upgrade to whatever size of drive you like. You can put in any drive that you like—it is a computer, after all."

- $599 PS3 has everything that the $499 PS3 lacks.

Nah, if anything I'm going for the Nintendo Wii!

Same here! Costs less than the original Xbox did on launch (from a Nintendo rep quote), Nintendo developed Wii games are gonna cost no more than $50 (another quote) and the amazing launch lineup! = Me buying!

Heres the list of launch titles for the Wii as of May 18th 2006:

- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

- Wii Sports

- Red Steel

- Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam

- Madden NFL 2007

- Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors

- Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz

- Metal Slug Anthology

- Trauma Center: Second Opinion

- Elebits

- Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

- Blitz: The League

- Rayman Raving Rabbids

- SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab

- Disney/Pixar's Cars

I still don't understand why the new consoles are coming with such small hard drives. 20GB for the standard PS3? Mid-range desktops come with 160-250GB hard drives. Even mid-range laptops come with 40-60GB hard drives as standard. Why only 20GB for the basic PS3 console?

It just doesn't make any sense to me. Being limited to a single 60GB hard drive for a gaming system seems counter-productive. Especially since a common size for a modern gaming PC is 250GB with room to expand to at least 3 more SATA 300 drives. Granted PC's are larger than consoles but the reasoning is still sound. At the prices of the XBox 360 and PS3, I'd expect much larger hard drives.

Heck, aren't the prices ($/GB) for those smaller drives a little on the steep side?
