View Full Version : Two WiFi Networks in One Home?
Has anyone ever run two wireless networks in the same house without any problems? I have two networks going in my house, a domain and a standalone network. I would like to add wireless capabilities to each, and already have it for the domain. I am just worried that having two wireless networks so close would cause horrible intereference problems, even if using different channels and such. Both WAPs would be in the same room actually.

There are 11 different channels you can use for either network, all having different transmit/receive frequencies. These are configured in the router administration, and is designed to avoid conflicts like you're talking about. As long as they're different, you should have no problems.

Yes, but also have to allow for other 2.4 gig wireless devices that you may be using...so all 11 chans may not be available.

I agree, also be aware the new pre-N MIMO stuff hogs three channels per router.

The newer wireless A broadcasts in the 5Ghz range... Yes, but also have to allow for other 2.4 gig wireless devices that you may be using...so all 11 chans may not be available. One of each might work well...
