I just purchased a 17" Samsung SyncMaster730B LCD Monitor..and have been having difficulties getting an image.

I hooked it up with the provided power cord and VGA cord, and turned the power on.
A small moving box came up and said: "Check Signal Cable" and had the word 'digital' underneath.
I checked all the cords, and they were all tightly and correctly in place.
Tried again, same problem.

I figured that meant I had to install the provided drivers. I chose to install the analog driver.
Then I tried hooking it up again, and rebooting. Same problem.

So, I hooked up my old CRT again and adjusted the monitor resolution and the refresh rate to 60Hz.
Tried again, same problem.

I tried hooking it up to my cousin's laptop, which runs on XP, pressed the CRT/LCD button (which always works with another monitor of mine) and had the same problem. "Check Signal Cable"

Maybe I should get a DVI cord or something and try that?
Maybe the monitor itself is defective?
Any input?

Any help is much appreciated! :D

Are you sure you are using the right input on the monitor? Most newer ones will have a select botton to choose between the DVI and VGA inputs.

It ended up being a faulty unit. Thanks.
