I have a problem when I click links on the web to access pdf files.
I am using IE as my browser.
When I click a link that is a pdf - the browser status bar says it is done but I can never see the pdf file.
I have adobe PDF Acrobat reader and Adobe Acrobat - previously the reader would get launched into the browser but it no longer does this
Please help
Do you have any pdf files saved on your hard drive (if needed enter *.pdf into Search)?
If so are they associated with Reader (do they show the Adobe icon)?
If pdfs are not associated with Reader, right click on one and select "Open With" and deill sown the list until you find Reader, make sure you tick the box to "Always use".
You should also be able to re-associate the files through the Options/Preferences in Reader.
There may be something else going on, but this is the easiest thing to check first.

yes I see the pdf icon (red squiggly A-shaped on grey document)
>make sure you tick the box to "Always use".
If I right click on the pdf icon - this option is not available
Right click on file => select Open With => (in XP you'll another option...Select from list) => then on the box with the list will be the box to tick.
But if the icon is showing then the files are very likely to be properly associated.
So, have you run any Windows updates recently?
Which version of Windows are you running? Which version of Reader?

My PC had this same problem.
I went to the Adobe site and once again installed the very same version [6.0.1] of the reader as was already installed and that fixed the problem.
I've no idea of what had been wrong.
