I have a PC running Windows XP-Pro which will soon be connected to the Internet via high-speed cable. Some 30 feet away is another computer that I'd like to connect via wireless router to the first PC.
What's needed to do this? Thanks for any advice.

What works best is to install a home router including wireless.
It gets set up: Cable Modem>Router>PC
This also adds layers of protection as you can have the PCs automatically assigned addresses via NAT (Network Address Translation), it may also include a hardware firewall to screen your PCs from the Internet, look for SPI (stateful packet inspection) on the router specs.
You do want to secure the wireless portion via appropriate encription, and also change the router name and administration password to something non-default.
Post back in Wide Area Network or Local Area Network forums and we can help you get that set up.

A wireless router and a wireless card for the second PC. You could probably connect at least one PC with wired, but that is up to you, if you want 100% wireless than two wireless adapters.
