Hi all,

In windows 98, We can access our Startup Menus by Typing "msconfig" in Start > Run.

But how we can access same Startup in Windows 2000/XP ? As to remove unwanted startups and stop them to load on Windows Startup.

I searched a lot in Windows Registries in Win 2000/XP, but unable to get my required condition.

Any know about this, please help me.

In WinXP im sure you use the same start\run\msconfig, but for Win2000 give this a read Link (http://pcsupport.about.com/od/quicktips/qt/w2kmsconfig.htm), hope it helps.

Install a free copy of Startup Control Panel (http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml).
Great little program.
Adds a new "Startup" icon to the Control Panel.
Better than msconfig for controlling the startup list of programs.
Can switch them off and back on, or delete the settings, then restore them, or delete them permanently.

SUPER! :D

Thank you very much Jiggy & Sylvander,

I download and installed this little software, it work fine, but did't indicate all my startups, as i know some of them from other utilities.

"didn't indicate all my startups"
I'm astonished!
This program is specifically designed to list ALL of the Startup items no matter which settings and their location starts them.

What kind of things didn't it list?

What kind of things didn't it list?
I got several entries in my startup Through a Ewido malware Scanner, these startup entries are not mentioned in the this program, however i can see some entries in registry.
Don't know why?

Startup Control Panel [SCP] isn't designed to scan for, find, and list malware.

"Don't know why?"
Were these malware items listed in the startup locations [both inside and outside the registry] where SCP locates and lists LEGITIMATE startup items?
Or were they located elswhere, or concealed in some way?

You do it in Win XP exactly the same way. Go to start, run, and just type in "msconfig" in the box, hit okay.

A window will open up and you'll notice on the tabs to the top right side there will be two that say "Services" and "Startup" I haven't used Win2000 so for that I'm not sure.
