View Full Version : sound card problem
hi ppl.
ok the problem with my home PC is that the sound only plays from the left speakers. I dont know what went wrong but when i tried to listen to the music from the PC or when i capture movies from the TV Capture card the out-put is only from the left speakers..
Is it a problem with my sound card?
The balance and everything is fine?
Thanks

Is the speaker jack in the right hole in the sound card ?
Is the speaker jack pushed all the way into the hole ?
Have you wired the speakers (and amp if you have one) up correctly ?
What speaker set up do you have (5.1 or other) ?
If you plug headphones in do you get sound in both ears ?
Also make sure the setting are correct for the speaker setup you have, and check the setting in Control Panel\Sound and make sure they match.
Is the speaker jack in the right hole in the sound card ? I normally use headphones not speakers.
If you plug headphones in do you get sound in both ears? Nope only the left headphone.
Also make sure the setting are correct for the speaker setup you have, and check the setting in Control Panel\Sound and make sure they match… I’ll recheck this but I assume they are fine, the last time I checked.

In the far end I have a “line in” (in my case colour blue) this is where I connect the audio line from other sources into my PC..
The other is the middle one (in my case coloured green) it is the one I use to connect my headphones from.
The other audio space is just left there.I dono what to do with it,
anyway this is how I set up my audio(s) coming in and going out of my PC.
Anyone can spot any error in how I connect my audio lines to & from my soundcard?

Looks fine to me. The green connector is the 'speaker out' jack (also used for headphones), and the red jack is for 'microphone in'...
Check the headphones on another PC to see if they work properly. Try another pair in your computer too, maybe? I've had computers where you have to have the plug halfway out in order for it to play properly (dang Dells)

Have you tried plugging your stereo headphone jack into the stereo headphone outlet socket on your CD/DVD drive when playing a CD?
That by-passes the sound card.
If the headphones don't work ok there, then the fault is with the headphones.
Guys guys you still dont get me. My speakers/headphone are just fine i tested it on other PC's and they worked right..
The problem is something else which i can not even guess what/where it is.

My speakers/headphone are just fine i tested it on other PC's and they worked right...This is the first time you have verified that the headphones are not the problem by testing them in another computer...
Guys guys you still dont get me.We'll get to the bottom of this, but we need to have the necessary information from your end... ;)
Do you have a set of speakers you can try other than the headphones?

Go to "Control Panel->Multimedia->Audio->Playback->Advanced Properties" [or similar].
It should be set to "Stereo Headphones".
If it is so set already [and not working], then try setting it to mono in some form.
This would eliminate L-R channel problems; both channels should be identical when in mono.
