I'm not starting it, i've seen debates in message boards and im sure with all of you pc people that it would get ugly... just wondering. If there ever was what the link to it?
thanks

I'm not in the mood to search for the relevant threads, but here's the gist: If you want the very best in reliability (stability), go Intel. For the best performance per dollar, go AMD.

The AMD reliability issue is really a non-issue...a few VIA chipsets for AMD chips had some problems. These problems were no more serious or troublesome than the infamous Pentium bug, the effective 64mb ram limit on most Intel-chipset Pentium motherboards, or the failed first try of a 1.13Ghz Pentium3...
I will say that AMD Athlon processors require a somewhat higher level of manal dexterity and caution when securing the heatsink than some of their Intel counterparts...however, I managed to attach my AXP heatsink the first time without breaking the die and have since removed and reattached it with no trouble...(runs at 36C to 44C with a 100mhz overclock)

Hi jjoel,

I have worked with Both Intel and AMD .
In fact I’ve work with a few other also.
With NO fond memories of the Cyrix chips. And relative speed BS.
Today I see no reason for a debate on stability issues between Amd and Intel chips.
They Both have their own strong points.
If you are willing to pay the extra price for the Intel chips (P4) advantage in some multimedia
Functions then have it,
In the Price / performance for general use. I always Opt for the Amd

I get along pretty good with an XP1800+ series running
at 1728 Mhz. Not bad for a Cheapie AMD processor.
We do not allow ugly.

I was a big Intel user for years, but switched to AMD after the Athlon came out. I've never had any problems with any processor I 've had, so I only care aboutnprice and performance. So far AMD's processors are better in those areas then Intel.

I've been running an AMD Athalon [and building them for others] since they were first introduced. I occasionally have problems with first boot up [when cold]; however I still like mine.....till I burn one up when the cpu fan goes out, I'll probably sing the AMD praises.

Motarola????
Do you mean Motorola perhaps? And you'll see them in only handhelds ( palm & such ) not in desktops.
Intel's are still used almost exclusively in servers; tho AMD is starting to make inroads in that service. Occasionally i still run across a DEC alpha { very rare bird }.

I know that Motorola used to make chips for apple; have they stopped?
