I recently bought a new secondhand PC, which is slightly better than my previous one. Using Windows XP, I could easily use BT Yahoo! Broadband on that PC without a problem.

Now, upon receiving my new PC, I installed BT Yahoo Broadband perfectly without problems, with the drivers properly installed and everything. However, every connection test fails and I am unable to get on the internet.

My Broadband Help option tells me it is not connected to the router, or it cannot detect it. However, the green light indicating the USB is plugged in (it's a USB connection as it was before) is active, meaning it can detect it fine.

I have also turned the router on and off, and reset it.

Apparently, if no DSL is active, the light will not go on, indicating no internet connection. So, I unplugged the ethernet that the laptop is connected to, so in testing it will only have my computer to find an internet connection on. I tried it, and the DSL light is on, when my computer was the only one hooked up to the router.

Help.

Piru,

I believe the way to solve your problem is to type in the ip address in browser to setup the router (ie, 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, 192.168.2.1) and copy your mac address of your new ethernet card. That should get you on.
