How is everyone?
I finally started putting together the new machine, but I'm
confused. Actually not very good in this area.
I have the Creative pc-dvd Encore With Dxr3 decoder board.
The board has a audio in 1 connector, audio in 2 connector and line out
connector.

Also, Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1, of course with the board and live
drive. The board has cd in, aux in, and cd spdif connectors.

Also, ATI All-IN-WONDER RADEON. The board has cd in, and cd out connectors.

I'm using the Plextor Plexwriter 16/10/40A.
I know I don't have to explain the cards and connectors to most of you.

My confusion is when I put the connectors in the places the manuals tell me,it seems that I'm missing something. I know I can find here. So Thanks
in advance.

Yikes! You're kind of all over the place there LORI http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif I'm not sure what you mean by "it seems that I'm missing something". Can you be a little more specific as to what exactly is giving you trouble?

Ok here we go.

I have a Creative DVD Encore w/Dxr3 decoder card.
A PlexWriter 16/10/40A. SoundBlaster Live Platinum 5.1 w/Live Drive.
All In Wonder Radeon.

What I want to do is edit video and copy them onto cd's.
Watch DVD movies, and listen to music,(also got the DeskTop Theater
System)this would be the main stuff. Between the Dxr3, SoundBlaster
and the All In Wonder this somehow has to be connected to the two
drives. I contacted Creative and the first setup they told me left
me with one wire missing. I just received another setup from them
that I did'nt try yet. I was hoping someone may have a similar setup
and could give me opinions.

Thanks Lori

Ok, I did the 2nd set that Creative gave me which is to
connect the dvd drive to the SoundBlaster card, which will
bypass the Dxr3 for audio connections, th signal is suppose
to stay digital longer and the card decodes the audio.

The connect the Plexwriter to the sound card, and connect the
All In Wonder to the sound card. This will leave out the Dxr3
card all together. I'm assuming that the Dxr3 card and the
All In Wonder card do the same thing???

But on to other things.
If anyone can give their expertise on this it would be great.

Thanks Lori

Hi Lori,

I don't know if you've solved your problem yet. It kind of sounds like signals just "passthrough" the Dxr3 card. Maybe try this setup: from Creatives website.

Use a four pin audio cable and connect your DVD drive to the CD-IN 1 or AUDIO IN 1 on the Dxr3. Use another four pin audio cable and connect the LINE OUT or AUDIO OUT on the Dxr3 to the CD-IN or AUX-IN on your sound card.

Next, connect the small cable that runs from the analog out on the back of the DVD drive to the CD-IN 1 on the decoder card. Then, take a cable running from the Line Out jack on the card to the line in on the sound card. Now, unplug the monitor from the video card and plug it into the VGA Out on the back of the decoder card. Find the cable that has a monitor plug on one end and an SVGA plug on the other. This is called the loopback cable. Plug the monitor end into the video card, where the monitor was plugged into. The SVGA plug goes into the VGA In on the decoder card (it will be the jack between the monitor plug and the end of the card).

I hope this helps a little http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
