Do not have an ip

sorry if this is the wrong forum, wasnt queit sure. I called my cable company because my wireless internet says its connected yet i cant get online and when i look at my ip it says that its 0.0.0.0.0 so the guy said something must of gone wrong with the windows installation. I dont think thats entirely accurate so im wondering what i can do? Ive tried restarting the modem and i did ipconfig/renew yet nothing happened

Desktop or Notebook?

Router involved?

Other PC's on the system and are they working?

Is there a hard wired Ethernet connection on the PC in question?

New installation or sudden failure on an old installation?

Any new software or hardware installed on the PC?

Any problems in device manager?
