Hey all!

I just wanted to blow some smoke up your rears and this seemed like an "anything goes" sort of forum, so I thought I'd pop in =P

I posted a question a few days ago and got some great advice, and I've been browsing other forums and posts and everything, and I have to say... I've learned more about computers from you guys the last couple of days than I have in my (relatively short) lifetime of toying around with them! Everyone seems really friendly, and amazingly knowledgeable; it's so nice to see the two mixed together!

I'm trying to post help where I can, but most of the questions I see are out of my league. But I just wanted to say that although I may not post much, I've been checking here a couple times every day, and appreciate the help you gave me... I don't want to come off as just using you once and disappearing until I need you again. =P

Thanks a lot, and take care everyone!

-Justin

Using the "Thread tools" you can subscribe to threads that interest you and follow the outcome. You can also watch the Chat room for members and ask questions directy. mjc is known to spend time there occasionally and is a great mentor to when trying to get a handle on the logic of the troubleshooting sequences...

Before I found this forum, there were two others that I would use. Once I found this one, I don't need the others. I haven't used the others since.

Yeah, this is what amazed me so much about this forum - I have posted in many communities in the past where people would rather make you feel like an outcast/idiot than help you out with your actual question/problem. I posted here for the first time and received a *wealth* of help and advice from people that genuinely seemed to want to assist me with my new PC build. I was impressed to say the least :).

Thanks everyone.

I've been to some of those sites where putdowns seem to be the order of the day...not pleasant to say the least. It would be best if folks just left those piranhas to feed upon themselves...

One thing most of those pea-brain, pocket protector, pencil necked idiots forget is that at one time, and maybe not so long ago, they too were at the WTF stage and somehow learned enough to figure out their problems, usually with someone elses's help...but they never learned any manners. Instead they've either taken to being extremely rude (I've figured it out, so you should be able to, idiot) or RTFM (which happens to have been translated from the original Chinese to Spanish by a drunk Indian (in New Dehli) who only speaks Hindi, then to English by Babelfish....)

Yeah I have been to those kind of forums. They are nothing more than a place to pat themselves on the back for being so smart. Rather than being of some help to those that have problems. Don't get me wrong, some of the other forums I have been to had an occasional member that was pleasant and helpful, but maybe one out of 50 members was like that.

Not so with the people around here. They are the best collection of helpful, knowledgeable people on the net. It's just a fact. ;) If someone comes around that wants to be a butthead, they get warned and removed if necessary.

I stumbled on this forum 2 1/2 years ago with basically no computer knowledge. Since then I have learned, and still am learning, more than I thought possible from these great people.
