Hi guys,
I have a cable modem/router hooked up. It beams a network field out which my desktop hooks up to. The network is secured and you need the WEP code to get onto it. Cool.
BUT I also have a cable running downstairs to my Apple Airport Express device. This Airport Express sends out a network signal which I thought would just be an extension of the signal sent out from the router, but it seems to be a SEPARATE network which is NOT secured.
I want it to simply re-transmit the same network signal downstairs instead of transmitting a second signal. Then I can walk around with my laptop and not lose the signal, right?
And I don't have to worry about the security of a second signal or which one people connect to when they are visiting.
The router utility (Belkin Wireless Utility) seems to run the WiFi show on my PC, instead of Windows utility.
Questions:
1. Does anyone know how I can alter the settings to achieve ONE single network out of the TWO WiFi transmitters without screwing everything, as usually happens?
2. Also, Do I really need the cable or can the Apple Airport Express receive wirelessly, and then re-transmit the signal from the router?
Any help is gratefully appreciated...
