I have a Compaq presario 2100 Laptop. Recently I had a dim display, so in an attempt to repair I disconnected the connector for the LCD display from the Mother Board and reconnected. When I put the thing back together it would not power up. I rechecked everything, it was put pack properly. I had stripped the laptop on several different occasions without a single problem.
1. Is it possible I shorted out the Motherboard. If so, is there any way to check.
2. Also what is the part called, the strip the the power button cover snaps over, that is screwed down under the speaker assembly. Is it possible this part was shorted out.

Just recently replaced the systemboard in my compaq presasro 2100 notebook. Now I don't have LCD display. I connected it to an external monitor and did receive display. I re-checked to make sure everything was connected properly and it was. My question is, does the bios need to be flashed? The manuel says something about when ever the systemboard or lcd panel is replace the service utilities disk has to be used. Is that true?

I have merged the two similar threads into one to avoid confusion. Please do not double post into different forums. Moderators will move a question to the appropriate forum if it was initially misplaced..

I just caught the other similar thread and have also merged that into one. All the problems cited appear to be related...
