Dear Experts,

I m totally helpless, need ur help pls...

Spec:
MOB: Intel D865GBF; Display: ATI 9200SE 128MB; Memory: PC3200 512mb x1, 256mb x2, Sound: Onboard; HDD: Maxtor Sata 80GB

Problem:
I recently format my pc. I pressed F6 to install the sata driver created from from MOB CD and downloaded from net, but still can't recognize. So I tried maxblast 4 from maxtor. When tried to install and nearly complete, it hung and I have to reset the pc.

Now the pc act strange.
1) It has no display on my monitor (Monitor tested with others and is working fine). The CPU, PSU fan, processor fan is running. MOB light is on and cd rom working. The CPU is just like running well, but no beep sound heard.
2) Occasionally, it showed CMOS checksum error when got display.

What I did:
I changed the PSU, cmos battery and resetting the bios by taking out the battery and jumper. I also tried to boot the pc with only onboard display card, mouse, keyboard and taking out the ram and swapping one of the ram in 4 different slots. It still not working with black screen. Sometimes after resetting, it succesful to get into the bios, but hang after a few second that I have to reset the pc and it get back to CPU running with black screen.

What is going on? Is it MOB/processor failure? Pls help...I m getting crazy with it.

Thanks.

Was this a working computer prior to the formatting? Is this a new build?

See if replacing the CMOS battery helps.

Hi Ski,

I have replaced the cmos battery. Tried to reset by taking out the battery for several hours as well.....no cure.

Replacing PSU did help at first as it can boot to bios screen. It get worse when I installed the Maxblast 4 driver for my SATA HDD and get hung. When I reset the PC the odd problem occured. I am not sure what is going on as I have tried all troubleshooting I found in the forums and official website. Just left the MOB and Processor.....hope it's not failure on this two.....so poor recently :p

If you tried each of the 3 RAM modules one at a time in each of the slots and reseated the video card with just a barebones setup(PSU, MB, CPU, RAM, video card, monitor, and KB), then either the MB, CPU, or video card may be bad. Check the MB for bulging, leaking, or ruptured capacitors.
If none are found, then either swap out the above components, or have them shop tested.

Thanks, I have checked through the MB throughlt, not found any bulging, leaking or ruptured. Every wire are connected tightly.

I think not the video card problem as both onboard intel extreme and external ATI card also not showing image. Is it right?

But strangely is that if it's hardware failure, suppose my pc will totally down right? but mine sometimes can be booted in to bios??

You will have to either swap out the suggested components, or have them checked by a repair shop.

Thanks again. I think better just send to the shop...I m not so well in troubleshoot this. Anyway, I did not send at first is because I know some of them will just say, ur MB is damage, have to change, ur this and that is damage...Found that the expert in forum are clever than some of them so call hardware vendor!

Cheer~
