I left the PC Guide shortly after you left mjc mainly because you're the most knowledgeable person here. Glad to see you back. I'll check in more often now, and thanks for the past help!

Well MJC, I had not posted for quite a while until my thread on the cable modem and router, and cruising the forums, found this thread. So where'd you go? Outside of West Virginia? I've always appreciated your input. So I hope being back is a good thing. Glad it wasn't another Black Viper disappearance :D :D

Just where the hell did black viper go anyway
1) He got married.
+
2) He moved to a new city.
+
3) He wanted to explore Linux.

All true.

And major geeks, I think has gotten his site mostly mirrored..with permission, I think.

He has said, a couple of places that some day he intends on getting the thing back up...just don't hold your breath.

Why am I getting emails for a thread last dated 2006?

PrntRhd

Possibly because someone dropped a spam reply into the thread and the spam and the spammer has been since removed.
I stop subscribing to threads after a week or so, that way those emails are never a problem.

Ok, sounds good. Thanks. Though I enjoy keep subscriptions as occasionally you get some interesting responses to old threads, whereas these were likely as you said, spam that was removed, and hence no new responses. But thanks again.

OMG. I googled The PC Guide from my work computer and got to the opening screen where there is a "New Guide! How to Build Your Own PC." Unfortunately, it is dated May 4, 2005. Is this an error, or have there been no updates since then. Yes, the basics remain the same, but the hardware obviously has changed and improved since May, 2005.
