BIOS Auto-detect

I accidentally bought a Compaq Presario with American Megatrends' AMIBIOS v02.58. This comes with a wonderful feature whereby it auto-detects your IDE devices on start-up. The BIOS options don't seem to have much in them, and the auto-detection makes some of them a bit redundant.

Anybody have any idea how to turn it off?! Can't seem to find anywhere in the BIOS options....

There probably isn't an option to turn it off...you are working with a very crippled BIOS here, not many user adjustable features.

MOst of the laptop won't allow user to set up there BIOS system. I think that there is no other way despite give Compaq Presario service centre a check.
