I just bought a IBM Thinkpad I series 1161 93U, And for some reason the onboard ethernet doesnt function, doesnt detect the hardware, so after a while i bought a Dlink DWL-G630 Wireless PCMCIA Network Card, Installed it correctly, but every time it freezes the computer and causes me to have to reboot, i know its hooked up correctly and have tried everything so am at a loss. I have viewed other forums and have seen that other people have had the same problem, but could find no solution..so any help is appreciated

Can you get into the BIOS and make sure that the onboard NIC is disabled?
I'm merging both of these...there is no need to double post, as this problem could fit in either category, but I answered the one in the Notebooks subforum first...

Yea ibm's bios is the worst ive seen, very few options you can change, theirs nothing related to onboard anyrhing, or my cardbus slot, ive updated the bios, no changes. so im still lost..
Pull the card, boot into safe mode. Remove the drivers from there and then reinstall the card in normal mode.

thanks for the suggestion buti have tried that numerous times..i may be forced to just return the product
Normally I'd say try it in another machine, but not too many people have a second laptop handy to experiment with.
If you've tried the Safe Mode removal, then there is a very good chance that there is a problem with the card.
