Can you supply the full model of your board?

Is this a custom built or off the shelf machine?

It is an Off the shelf machine.Bought at PC world.

Skidmark run the Sisoftware program i put on your computer and type all the info on your motherboard into this thread.

If this is any help to you MJC its model name was lithium or something along that line.
We searched high and low for the drivers for the audio and for a BIOS update to no avail.

Go here (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/famiNumbDocument?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&dest_page=&product=89327&docname=c00004461) to find the exact model number for your machine...

Then go here (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/siteHome?lc=en?=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=top) and enter that model number...that should take you to the drivers page.

Unfortunately, a number of drivers for off the shelf systems need to come from the manufacturer. That Asus board in your machine doesn't really mean anything, because it was a special build, for Compaq, and never generally released, so Asus isn't going to have drivers for it and there is a good chance that generic sound drivers for the chipset won't work (probably the inf file wouldn't recognize the board as being valid for that chip)...so you'll need to muddle through Compaq's driver downloads to get what you need.

Manuals (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&cc=uk&dlc=en&tool=softwareCategory&product=1838768&lang=en&)

Evidently, there is no software available for your model...according to this (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/swPfinder?query=Presario+061UK&tool=softwareCategory&image.x=0&image.y=0&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en) list.

The original drivers should be on the restore disk, but I'm guessing that you don't have that?

Here (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&tool=softwareCategory&product=1848386&dlc=en&docname=bph07143) is the info on the Recovery disks...

You could try the audio drivers from this model (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?lc=en&cc=us&tool=softwareCategory&product=1848386&dlc=en&os=228) as they both use the same motherboard...use the 'original' drivers...
