I was wondering if anyone here knows of any good proxy programs?
And if so could they recommend one or two to me and maybe give me a brief run through of how it works.
Thanks in advance and as always ANY help is greatly appreciated.

What type of proxy service are you looking for?
Are you looking to set up a web server?

I'm looking for a free Proxy to hide my IP online.
Getting a bit tired of all the scans and have been told that having a proxy is handy.
So whatever that entails is what I am looking for.
I have tried something like Proxyway before and I kept getting blue screen errors when i tried to run it.So suggestions are really appreciated.

There is a program called Proxomitron that has a learning curve but does a lot toward blocking such issues (I dabbled with it a couple of years back), the author is no longer alive but there are volunteers who write patches and filters for the program.

These days I use layers of protection including a router with NAT/SPI, so I don't care as much about someone scanning my IP, they won't get too far even using brute force attacks.

Ok from reading on the program it sounds pretty good.
But i didn't read anywhere that it hides your IP on the internet.
Does it?

So does it hide your IP?

Nothing I know of actually hides your IP. An anonymous proxy server gives up their server IP but that can be bypassed with the proper tools and the real address found.
Proxomitron makes the PC itself invisible to the internet. However, your ISP still gives the internet the IP you are using.
And if you layer yourself behind several proxies and mask your true IP, you will still be 'scanned'...especially if all the proxies are doing is masking your true IP...they will just pass the scans along the chain. Of course some of them (proxies) can act as firewalls and drop the scans...
Here (http://www.aedwis.com/images2/kleincollage.jpg) is the only tool I know to completely eliminate scans...and all chances of your PC being hacked/infected by being connected to the 'Net.

Ok then..
I just want to mask my IP so as for example a forum like this one or any other ones won't be able to see my true IP address.(Nevermind the tools that can reveal me) Just on simple terms I don't want admins or moderators on forums where I don't know the staff to have my IP.
I just want a trustworthy proxy server or program to mask my IP.
