Hello,
First - the problem: I want to setup a wireless network which provides good connection through out my 2 story home. I have 2 DLink routers - one provided by my ISP (Verizon) and the other I purchased prior and which has MIMO capabilities (and better coverage). I also have a *homeplug* setup, to use through the power line running in the house. I was hoping the homeplug setup would help with the connections downstairs, as my hook-up is up stairs in a corner bedroom. Verizon provided a wireless router for the new FIOS TV setup, which has been "optimized" for streaming media.
I was wondering if it is possible to turn off the radio in the router from Verizon (a DLink DI624), plug in my MIMO router(DLink DI-634M) and the homeplug router (which sends a signal to a wireless G transmitter through the power line?) and use them to handle the primary duties of my wireless network. Someone mentioned using subnet masks, but I'm not familar with this. Would it be better to buy a switch or is it something I can do with the hardware I have? Since the network doesn't really need to talk with each other and only need to share the Internet connection, it doesn't need to be too fancy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
