hello, every 10 mins or so i get the msg of network cable unplugged and it goes out and internet resumes normally. this has been happening for a while now and im not sure what it could be...the built in ethernet in the motherboard is broken and a pci lan had to be installed...this pci lan was used so maybe it could be the problem...im just letting you know just in case....what can the problem be and how can i solve it??? i got rogers high speed internet and a di524 w/ router...my laptop shows no symptons of internet connection been lost....
thank you

Reseat the LAN card.
If no luck, then insert it in another slot(if available).
If no good, then make sure all cables are secure.
If they're ok, then the card may be bad.

I would suggest replacing the Ethernet cable to the PC first. (the cheapest component) and see if symptoms reoccur or stays stable.
After that I would try plugging the cable into a different port in the router, if it still persists I would then look at the NIC itself.

ive disabled and abled the lan, changed the cable to a different port, change the cable with a brand new cable. and nothing...the pci slot should be fine, it was brand new when i first plugged the card....whats NIC???
im just going to buy a new card and see what happens.....
thanks

NIC=Network Interface Card; generic name for a network card, also known as an ethernet card (a specific type of NIC) or several other names.

This is interesting. Do you mean that you still have a connection using your laptop even though the desktop PC shows the network cable unplugged??
All that means is that the problem is between the desktop and the router...or just the desktop.

yea thats probably the problem, the desktop and the router...but this router is not even a year old and i bought new with my laptop, since then ive only been using one port just for the pc...
thanks
